About

Desheny Christel Asher or “Desheny” was born in Singapore, March 1998. Her parents – Sheela and Roy Murthi raised her up after her older brother by 6 years, and moved around locally in the country because of her father’s army decades-long service in the Guards Infantry. In 2001, she moved with her family to Perth, Australia where her father had a posting there for 3 years till they came back to settle down in Singapore. Growing up as a child, her music influences from her parents still stem to her tastes today – the 70s and 80s being her favourites.

Growing up in the late 2000s and 2010s, she grew her musicality and performance skills – Joined the speech and drama club, started to play the guitar in her school classes, and joined her high school choir “Westwood Chorus”, which all contributed to her technicality in vocal, musical accompaniment training and her presence with the performing arts.

At the end of her high school career, she got a pink ukulele for her 16th birthday gift from her mother and she became self-taught in playing the ukulele. Unfortunately, to her mother’s dismay, Desheny has vandalised her pink ukulele with pink permanent markers and was later given to her then 4 year old niece Abigail. Later in her career in business, she got herself an acoustic guitar years later after high school. She also dabbles a bit on the keyboard and piano.

Through out her growing, she discovered her gift for songwriting. Although she prefers to keep her life secret, she steps out of the bondage from her social anxiety, and posted her own music and frequent covers in her Youtube channel and now on other platforms.

Being a gifted song-writer and vocalist, like most poetry-nerds, keeps a stash of poetry slips with lyrics about love, rejection, hate, experiences during an abusive relationship, and her hope that glimmers in between her deep sighs and sorrows as she tarries through life. Bringing all of those experiences as much spare time she has to her song-writing and music producing.

Looking up, she knows of an eternal hope and glory set in Jesus Christ, obscure to her as anyone else but clear as day in her spiritual eyes and heart ears.

Her best friends are Mavis and James and her boyfriend, Uwe Hiemer. Keeping 3 close-ones to her personal circle. Nights up talking about deep things.

On most days, she spends cordial time with her parents and eating good food, enjoying life and not worrying about a thing. She loves bright colours and occasionally, black material on her makes her shine brighter.

Her aussie parakeet boi, “Psalm”, keeps up with her annoying ass and deeply affectionate hugs around his cage. He also kindly and grudgingly returns the favour back to her.
